Carry-On Must-Haves For Jet-Set Girls
Flying is one of the most incredible experiences for me. It provides a sense of liberation. Occasionally, I am fortunate enough to witness a stunning sunrise or sunset from above, leaving me in awe. The first time I got on a plane was at the age of six with my mini carry-on. Since then, I can’t even count how often I was in the air anymore. Most of my relatives live in Vietnam, and my parents and I love exploring and discovering Asia. Due to that, we also took a lot of long time flights. From flight to flight, I developed my carry-on must-haves, which I can’t fly without anymore. Of course, you don’t need all of these items for two hours of flying, but for a long-time flight, they might also be helpful for you. Hence, here are the carry-on must-haves every jet-set girl needs.

LOVELY PASSPORT COVER
It happened to my mum, auntie and me once when our passports got stolen. Of course, that had to happen a few weeks before our holidays to Vietnam and Hong Kong. You can’t imagine how stressful it is to lose the only important document for getting on a plane. I remember we didn’t even know if we could still go on holiday back then. Still, luckily we got our new passports three days before departure, and since then, I have always kept my passport in sign. In addition to the stolen passport situation, I now only bring my passport when flying overseas, as my ID is sufficient for travel within Europe.
Invest in a beautiful passport cover that will make you eager to store and care for your passport. Many passport covers also come with card holders, providing an extra benefit.
SCARF & JACKET
It may seem obvious to bring a scarf during the winter or cold days, but I also carry one during the summer. The air conditioning can be intense and get chilly, particularly on airplanes. Besides, in many cities, the AC is so high that you will also need a scarf even if it is a hot summer and 35° degree outside.
I also always take a thin jacket or a cardigan with me because even if I get a blanket on long-time flights, sometimes it is still too cold for me.
HEADPHONES
Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed playing instruments and singing. I make it a habit to listen to music all the time. Music has the power to convey a wide range of emotions and experiences. Therefore, headphones are essential to me! For years now, I have been a loyal user of Apple AirPods. Recently, I also invested in the Max version, specifically for travelling, as they offer noise-cancelling capabilities. In addition, there is now a special adapter available to connect your headphones to the airplane.

IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
When I’m on a plane, what I do depends on how long the flight is. I usually bring a book and my Kindle with me. However, most of the time I spend working. That’s why I also have my iPad or Laptop with me. Occasionally, I use the time to catch up on sleep, but usually, I’m occupied with work-related tasks. My family enjoys watching movies as a form of in-flight entertainment, but I only watch a movie if there’s one that I really want to see.
SNACKS
11 hours or more can be very tough and exhausting. It can even get worse when you don’t like airplane food. So prepare for yourself and bring small snacks on board.
PORTABLE CHARGER
When going on vacation, having a portable charger with you is essential. However, it’s recommended to keep it in your carry-on bag. While some planes have USB points for charging your phone, I once experienced the frustration of needing to use my phone for work and the USB point not working. Since then, I always bring my portable charger in my carry-on bag. Additionally, storing a portable charger in your luggage is not allowed anymore.
JEWELLERY CASE
I suggest carrying valuable items like jewellery in your carry-on. While not essential, a jewellery case is a helpful item to have when travelling. I use a travel pouch from Cartier to safely transport my precious pieces and prevent scratches.
EYE SLEEP MASK
I always take my silk sleep eye mask from SLIP for sweet dreams on overseas flights. This investment was worth every penny because it is so soft and helps me get my beauty sleep on a plane.
A sleep mask is a carry-on must-have if you take a red-eye flight or even just a long flight. For everyone who wants to sleep on a plane, the only thing you need to do so is a sleep mask and noise-cancelling headphones.
NECK PILLOW
Due to my sensitive skin, I’ve been searching for a convertible neck pillow. I develop breakouts on my cheeks whenever I lean my face against the plane window for extended periods. I’m looking for a neck pillow that matches my preference for rose-coloured items. When purchasing a neck pillow, I highly recommend getting one with a strap to tie to your bag or suitcase to prevent it from getting lost. Trust me, I’ve learned this from experience.
COMPRESSION TIGHTS & SOCKS
Sitting for eleven hours without moving can be very painful! Try to get up a few times, do yourself a favour, and move slightly. Compression tights can be very helpful as well. I bought a pair from FALKE, and they are excellent. I had the feeling that my legs didn’t get so tired. The only disadvantage is just the moment you’re putting them on. So for this time, I didn’t wear them because I was too lazy, but my mum used them and was thankful for this carry-on must-have!
SUNGLASSES
Take your sunglasses as a lifesaver when you just landed. They come in really handy when you are feeling jetlagged. Besides, sunglasses always make people look mysterious and help them to travel in style. Therefore, always keep sunglasses with you wherever you go!
