Happiness, 행복 (Haengbog), Bonheur, Fröhlichkeit, Hạnh Phúc, Felicità, 幸福 (Xìngfú), Felicidad, 幸福 (Kōfuku)…

A word in so many different languages and yet still more or less the same meaning. Why is it only more or less the same meaning? Right, the translation will always be the word happiness. However, every single person in this world will describe happiness differently because, for everyone, it is something different. Yet, in the end, everyone is driving for this incredible feeling and this way of life.

When we grow up, caught up in nowadays society, we millennials are often driven by factors such as success, career, money, and perfection. Therefore, we often forget the real meaning of why we seek those things. Because, at the end of the day, even if we want a successful career and a perfect life, it is because we think this will make us happy. Some people will indeed get a happy feeling when reaching such a goal. I mean, it’s definitely something to be proud of. However, perfectionism is an illusion. If someone strives for a perfect life, the result will be an endless cycle of chasing more. We need to learn to enjoy the little things in life, especially how important it is that a happy life is much better than a perfect life.

While living in Shanghai, I learned to enjoy the simple, especially the little things in life. I started to take out the pressure I had put on myself for years, and it felt so good! Don’t get me wrong. Just because I took out the pressure didn’t mean I stopped working for my dreams. I was still putting effort into my studies to get good grades. Furthermore, I started to work as an intern in the finance branch.

I enjoyed all of those, and yet I still made it my priority to enjoy life. To take a walk for 15 kilometres with the person I like. To grab a hot chocolate with a friend or only to stay in and play Monopoly with friends. By enjoying the little things in life, I realised that it is always easier to be happy.

Therefore, it is a lifestyle I definitely want to keep because I want to continue to experience the daily happiness. Of course, not every day in life will be a good day. I haven’t figured life out yet, but when we can find a little something good in each day, even the bad days will get a little bit less horrible.

THE DAILY HAPPINESS

Since I started LY MADEMOISELLE, I have always treated this website as a place to get inspired. To dream about the happy things in life. Mademoiselle is a synonym for my Parisian happiness. If you have read this blog for a while, you know I love Paris. The city of love will always be my happy place and my constant source of inspiration. However, after three years, I decided to change the concept of this website a little bit. As you can see, from today on, this website will be called “THE DAILY HAPPINESS”.

The content will still be everything about what a twenty-something is going through. However, with less focus on myself. I decided to change the name to something more general. Because I want to get out of this me, myself and I concept step by step. There will likely be guest articles online – incredible happiness stories from girls who have significantly impacted my life. We will also start to talk about careers, finances and taxes on the daily happiness because my student time will be over soon. Then it is really time for adulting. The last study abroad articles will be released the next time, and then it is time for a new life chapter. And, of course, we will also still enjoy beauty and travel topics together.

I don’t write as many articles as I did before because I got caught up with my studies, work and private life. (I definitely envy those inspiring, hard-working girls who are getting everything in their life under control.) Nevertheless, I recently realised that I have been blogging for exactly ten years. I started my very first in 2010, and until today I still enjoy writing and releasing articles very much. Due to that, I could never completely walk away from this website. However, I also admit that it takes a lot of time to create an excellent article, and I do not want to upload any content that will not bring any valuable meaning to you.

Therefore, I will still keep trying to be creative and release good content, which means that it can happen that an article maybe will take a little bit more time. I hope you will still be going on this journey with me. Let’s all enjoy THE DAILY HAPPINESS together in the future by easing our minds, enjoying the little things in life and simply being happy.

Love, Ly
